How Putin tied Ukraine Invasion to the Second World War in Victory Day Celebration in 2022

Updated: 4 days ago

Victory Day in Russia is a holiday that commemorates the 1945 victory over Nazi Germany. Twenty seven million soviet citizens died during this war, and Victory Day is the day that marks the immense sacrifice the Russian people and other Soviet Union nations made in the fight against Nazism. Victory Day Parade usually involves tanks and other military vehicles marching through Moscow's Red Square.

However, over the last years Victory Day has become more of "us versus them" with Kremlin increasingly "seeing" enemies everywhere around them leading to increasing isolation of Russia from the rest of the world.

Not only has this led to the start of the war in Ukraine on 24th February 2022 with some mythical claims of Russians fighting against Nazism in Ukraine but it has also allowed Putin to brainwash his people even more with his state propaganda and justify his invasion of some parts of Ukraine to date.

Putin claims that our fathers fought against Nazism and "saved the world" and that Russian people "had no choice" but to do the same in 2022-attack Ukraine (because "Ukraine planned to attack Russia") and fight Nazis there to save Russian-speaking population living in Ukraine.

Out of Victory Day that we all had some relatives fighting for in 1945, he made something gruesome in May 2022 as he tried to justify his violence, genocide and infrastructure destruction in Ukraine with his mythical claims of "saving Russians in Ukraine" and "fighting against Nazis in Ukraine".

There was no Ukrainian aggression, there was no NATO aggression against Russia, there were no other "enemies" or threat to Russia and its security in February 2022 when he did decide to go and attack Ukraine. All this was only on his federal propagandistic channels which do not allow any freedom of speech and are sponsored purely by the State.

It is his channels that breed nationalism, racism and promote violence and hate speech as in this video where "Russian TV host says nuclear strike is 'most probable' outcome of Ukraine war".

President Vladimir Putin has been messing up with the minds of Russian people in Russia for years now. It is not a secret to anyone outside Russia. This is partly why there is no truthful information in Russia being broadcasted about the real situation in Ukraine and in this war that is now going on in Ukraine in 2022 as a result of Russia's attack,

Whatever he shows on his channels is considered "real" and "true" and whatever else some Russians manage to get access to outside this bubble of harmful information is "fake". In March 2022 a short period after Russia's invasion of Ukraine started Russia passed a law making it a major crime to publish what it deems “fake” news about the country’s military. Violators could face 15 years in prison.

Not only is this brainwashing done via TV channels in Russia (with most social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter "blocked") but also this propaganda is now being instilled into younger generations.

Children dressed in military uniform from young age are now roaming around with the "Z" military symbol in nurseries and schools supporting the madness and myths perpetuated by Putin.

This was filmed on 9th May 2022 in Russia during Victory Day celebration.

Some countries have already banned these Z and V symbols that promote "military aggression, crimes against humanity and war crimes".

To me it is incomprehensible how the country that once fought against Nazism in 1945 that really took place at that time has now become a Nazi country itself killing thousands of Ukrainians, destroying Ukrainian cities, committing genocide in Mariupol, Kyiv, Bucha and other Ukrainian towns and villages in 2022.

I guess only time will tell for sure how this has become a reality in 2022, how Russians allowed this to happen and how this will all end.
